It`s Been A While

By Danndel, May 25, 2010 9:28 am

…since either of us have updated our poor neglected blog. You may have noticed though that Daniel has been doing some work on the graphics, he is very clever  ) In actual fact our whole web site crashed last week and he has had to restore the whole lot!!!

So thought I’d start with the latest Random Dozen (please excuse the lack of pictures I’m being very slack).

#1 Would you rather host a party or simply attend a party?

I prefer to host the party cause I love to entertain and it also means I’ll actually know everyone at the party!!

#2 Tell us about the most memorable party you’ve been to.

ooh, that would probably be the party that I went to at a colleagues house, she had decided to have a party for her hubby cause he’d never had one and sadly it ended up badly with a huge fight breaking out in the middle of the back yard and the cops being called.

#3 What is one thing you hope for in the afterlife?

As long as I get to spend with my hubby I’m happy.

#4 What do you enjoy most about sunshine?

It seems to make people happy  )

#5 When you attend a bridal/baby shower, do you prefer to bring your own gift or chip in with others to buy a larger gift?

Depends but probably chip in with others.

#6 Would you rather have a FREE week of having your house cleaned or all of your meals cooked for you and your family?

Having my house cleaned, I love cooking.

#7 What song describes your mood today?

Don’t worry be happy

#8 What is something you received for your own bridal shower/wedding that you still own or use?

For us it wasn’t crystal salad bowls it was wine glasses, we have so many and all different sorts!!! Still had to go a buy a plastic champagne flute for Daniel to drink his pink champagne in though  )

#9 You favourite flavour of ice cream?

Boysenberry, yum!!

#10 When was the last time you felt ‘tested’?

Every day at work at the moment!!

#11 _______ is a food that once I start eating I find it hard to stop.

Can I pick more then one… bread, chocolate, chips, ice cream, any sort of junk food really.

#12 _______ is the best motivation.

Stress. I tend to work well under pressure its when I get the most done.

So an update on the goings on in our world, we’ve been fairly busy lately getting the cars sorted out. Our trusty old Commodore is gone, we ‘traded’ it in so we didn’t have to go through the pain of trying to sell it. We finally got the windows tinted on the new car last Friday, looks good!!

We’ve seen a couple of movies lately – Iron Man 2 was good and Beneath Hill 60 was brilliant, best movie I’ve seen in a long, long time. Daniel has seen some others too but I can’t remember which ones.

We’re also getting ready to have our house painted, we gave up trying to do it ourselves so we are in the process of having a big clean out and packing up our rooms etc Painting officially starts on 14th June and we will be moving out of our house for the week and staying at Mum and Dad’s.

Not much else to share really, work has been full on but then again as I said above I tend to work well under pressure so hopefully that continues to be true. I did make one of my staff members cry the other day, was not a great moment for me but I personally didn’t think that I was being unreasonable I was just asking her to do her job!!

Daniel is good bit tired though as the road works going on behind our house has been preventing him from getting much sleep. I’m not sure if its the rain we’ve had for the last couple of days but they haven’t been around this week so hopefully he’ll get more sleep this week.

Ellie and Azrael are both good, neither are enjoying the colder weather, Azrael complains constantly cause he wants to go outside but its too cold and Ellie flatly refuses to get out bed of a morning.

So its late and time for bed, I hope your all well, till next time take care xxx

Holden Captiva

By phroghollow, May 13, 2010 9:31 am

The new car we have leased is the Holden Captiva CX7, some generic specs first :

3.2L V6

5 Speed Auto with Active Select

Alloy Wheels

CD Player with MP3

We then added :

Nudge Bar

Tow Bar

Window Tinting(This will be done on Friday 21st of May)

Now some photo`s :

It has a split rear door :

Or you can open the whole thing :

If you`re using all 7 seats, obviously you don`t have much boot space :

But if you really need space then you can go this way :

V6 3.2L is not quite as big as the VT`s 3.8L V6 but it is still pretty damn good :

Lots of controls on the steering wheel, Stereo controls on the right, Cruise control on the left :

Sunroof was a freebie, and still is if you want to buy one at the moment :

Nice setup in the front :

And in the back, including cup holders :

So that`s the new car. We bought it from Gerald Slaven in Belconnen. We dealt with Paul Stamatis, we were exceptionally pleased with the service we received and will recommend anyone go see him.

Commonwealth Motors on the other hand, give them a miss, Hint to Commonwealth motors, if i`m standing on your lot looking at a car for half an hour I WANT SERVICE.

I think that`s about it, I`m sure the wife will remind me of something i`ve forgotten. Bye.

Papercraft Skull

By phroghollow, May 8, 2010 9:41 am

Heh, we`ve had a flashing red light up in our office for over a week now.

I decided to do something to make it look a little less harsh, so I found a bit of papercraft on skulladay.com :

Papercraft Skull

You can print it out yourself here : papercraftskull

Here is some finished pieces :

And when the Red light now goes off the skull makes it look like this :

Glowing Skull

Aight, thats enough for tonight, Bye.

Ellie and I up the fire trail

By phroghollow, May 5, 2010 9:47 am

Ellie and I have been going for walks on all my days off, unfortunately it`s too dark to go when I get home on day shift and i`m usually not in the mood on night shift. Today we went up the fire trail which you can see coming down Old Cooma road as you turn into Candlebark :

But Can`t really see it from the front of our house :

We walked up and on the way we found a dam :

Found a dam

So we walked right up to the top, it`s a bloody steep walk, Ellie got to see a Kangaroo, she was fascinated, unsure what to do until it bounded off and then she decided to bark :

View from the bottom

and took some photos :

From the top

Our House, Old Cooma Road and Karabar in the background

Our House right behind the gum tree in the middle

What`s on the other side of the hill :

Old Cooma Road

I`ve also made a list of all the walks we take Ellie on you can find it here

Anyway the wife is home and i`d better go socialize. Bye.

Another Random Dozen

By Danndel, April 21, 2010 10:13 am

1. Ever had any run ins with the Library police?

Only if you count having to pay huge library fines, the worse was the $92 fine I had to pay while at Uni!!!

2. Do you have special organizational plans and a place for wrapping paper, gift bags etc, or do you just purchase whenever you need as you give gifts?

Nope I have a stash of wrapping paper and bags always on the ready, mainly because I usually forget about the wrapping and it usually ends up a last minute thing.

#3 Have you ever been in (first -hand witness to) a natural disaster?

I did witness the Canberra Bushfires, it was scary, could actually see on of the fires from our bed room window.

#4 What’s your favourite Barry Manilow song?

Can’t say I have one.

#5 What’s the best costume you’ve ever worn?

The only one that I can remember is when I went to a friends party dressed as a Hippy in one of my Mum’s old orange and brown afgans from the 70’s.
#6 What’s your favourite breakfast food?

Croissants with Jam or failing that toast made with Bakers Delight White Loaf with sesame seeds, YUM!!
#7 Which do you use more a dictionary or a thesaurus?

The dictionary, I am a terrible speller.

Yes, we bought some knifes from Danoz Direct ages ago. Daniel would love the Magic Bullet and I would love the Sham-Wow!!

Yep, but its not that exciting it was just through Mum and Dad’s kitchen window whenever I locked myself out of the house.

#10 Do you believe in love at first sight?

Yes.

#11 How many pairs of jeans do you own?

A couple and none of them fit!!

#12 If someone were going to bake a cake to honor/represent you, what would it be?

Death by chocolate mud cake!!!

Random Dozen – 2nd Cup of Coffee

By Danndel, April 17, 2010 10:14 am

1. How do you feel about “Gladiator” sandals also called “Roman” or “Jesus” sandals? A fashion yea or nay?

That would be a definite NAY from me.

2. What is your favourite pizza?

BBQ Chicken on thin and crispy base.

3. There are plans to sell roughly 1,000 items from Star Trek:The Experience in Las Vegas. This means that you could buy Picard’s chair for your family room. If not a Star Trek, what prop, background, set from what movie would you buy if you could?

Hhmmm good question, I’d take Edward Cullen’s Aston Martin Vanquish. Not that you get to see it in the movie but it should be in the movie!!

4. Name a local food or restaurant that your area is famous for.

Central Cafe on the main street is famous for its King Size meals, they really are HUGE!!! But the Rendezvous, also on the main street, does King Size meals as well and is much better then Central Cafe. Rendezvous also provides free garlic bread and after dinner mints!!

5. What is your current favourite snack?

I’ve just discovered Weight Watchers Cookie Crunch Ice Cream Bars, YUM!!

6. Hypothetical: You are required to be a reality show contestant. Which show would you choose based on your probability of success? (You cannot choose ‘none’)

A. Dancing With The Stars

B. Biggest Loser

C. Survivor

I’d have to choose Biggest Loser, cause I couldn’t dance to save myself and I refuse to go anywhere where I can’t plug my hairdryer in )

7. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being uninhabitable and 10 being cleanliness that meets the standards of OCD, how clean is your vehicles interior?

At the moment I’d given my car a 6, it needs to be vaccumed.

8. It doesn’t feel like Spring until ……..

I see blossoms on trees or like Kirsty I’ve popped a few Claryntine )

9. Something that made you laugh really hard recently is….

Can’t remember but it was probably something that Daniel did, he cracks me up )

10. Tell me about a goal you’re working toward.

Its all about weight loss, I’ve lost 14kg so far, 6kg to go to reach my next goal (I’m working in 10kg increments).

11. Share a thought provoking or inspiring quote this week

When I read this one my favourite little saying immediately popped into my head its not really inspirational but it always makes me smile:

“I’d like to be a glow worm cause a glow worms never glum, cause how can you be grumpy when the sun shines out your bum”

12. Name one thing you do as a parent that you absolutely know will make your kids happy. If you’re not a parent, feel free to substitute ‘friend’ or nomenclature that works for you.

I’m at a loss on this one, I’m not a parent and I can’t think of anything else, sorry!!

Wedding Anniversary

By phroghollow, April 14, 2010 10:16 am

Three years ago today I married the most amazing man ) Thought I’d share a couple of a wedding photos (now that I’ve worked out how to upload them :) ).

This first one is one of my favourites!!

v

We’ve had a lovely day today, Daniel took the day of work so that he wasn’t working night shift so I decided to take the day off too. We actually spent most of the day car shoppping, the Hilux didn’t happen on account of it being considered a commercial vehicle. We are now looking at the Holden Captiva 7 SX, fingers crossed.

We took Ellie for a walk around the river this afternoon, she had a lovely time chasing ducks and cockatoos. We had a lovely dinner at the Queanbeyan Leagues Club tonight, we were going to open a bottle of pink champagne but have decided to leave it for Friday night.

Thank you to all for the thoughts and wishes for today and thank you to Daniel for  being an amazing husband, I love being married to you xxx

Our Weekend

By phroghollow, April 11, 2010 10:21 am

We’ve had a lovely weekend, its been so nice to share it with my husband )

Started with a quiet night on Friday night, we did take Ellie for a big walk around the river and then spent the night at home catching up on our TV viewing. Ellie slept she was very tired )

Saturday was a fairly uneventful day as well but we did make to the Toyota dealership to test drive a Toyota Hilux. I was impressed, it actually felt easier to drive being up high, reversing however is a another story!!! So now it just a matter of speaking to our finance people to see if we can make it work, if not then we’ll look for something else. We were actually at the dealership for about 3 hours!! That did include about an hour for the test drive, all I can say is that they have their routine finely tuned, we spoke to 3 different people about various things before we allowed to leave! They did bring the Hilux that we test drove all the way out from Belconnen for us, I was impressed, but I guess they do just about anything to make a sale )

Today has been very relaxing, bit of a sleep in then off to the gym for a work out we’ve both being doing an extra 10 minutes cardio all week to try and work off some of our Easter badness!! This afternoon we went out to Brand Depot to get new sneakers for Daniel, he has just about worn out his old ones, he works them too hard at the gym )

Took Ellie to the park yesterday afternoon and this afternoon for a short walk and then some playtime on the big oval, she was more interested is saying hello to all the people and chasing birds then chasing her toys!!

So that was our weekend, nice and quiet, we were thinking of Mary and Alan today, hope your farewell picnic was fun!!

Have a good week all xxx
