Was just reading my last post and saw my comment about Freddie going for his second haircut and thought wow I really need to update more often, he’s about to go for haircut number 4!!! Good news is he’s a pro at haircuts now, he even sits up in the chair by himself, provided he can hold Mummy’s hand and watch Daddy get his hair cut at the same time :o )

So, Freddie news since the last post, he is well and truly running now, why walk when you can run!! Loves spending time outside mostly playing (or chasing) Ellie and kitty and looking at the doggies over the fence. He loves the park, his favourite is the swing, cries when its time to go home!! Loves riding ‘bikey’ both inside and out and throwing his ball or his balloon, we still can’t walk past a shop with balloons and/or balls without a scene!!

Freddie has most of his teeth now, just waiting on the big incisors to come in, we’ve been very lucky that his teething doesn’t seem to have caused him that much distress, although they’ve almost all come in while he’s been sick so its been hard to tell sometimes if he was miserable because of his teeth or he wasn’t feeling well. He’s now moved up a room at daycare and is now in Nursery 2 and we’ve seen a big change in him, mostly that he now talks, lots!!! Mind you his favourite thing to say is ‘Oh No!”, he’s also now saying “My Dad” when looking for Daniel :o ) Other favourites are “Where da ball?”, “Done” and “Muuuuuum!”. He’s also starting to feed himself with a spoon (yay!) and learn the actions to songs, he’s very good at Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Row, Row the Boat.

We are continuing with swimming lessons every Sunday, he is doing very well, finally able to do his safety step in and out of the pool on his own, is starting to kick and paddle, floats like a pro and loves using the kick board. We’ve been trying to get him to blow bubbles for ages and he’s just flat out refused to do it, but last night in the bath he finally just decided to give it a go and now loves it, just hoping he does it at swimming lessons :o )

Daniel and I are both well, I have started a new job since the last post and am enjoying it, heaps and heaps of stuff to learn but the people I work with are lovely and hey I’ve already encountered 2 people that I used to work with at ANU, its a small world!!

Best go, its late and time for bed, till next time… xx

Wow this update is long over due, Freddie has already had haircut number 2 since the last post!!!

Where to begin, I went back to work in February, 4 days per week, have settle back in relatively well. Freddie has settled well into daycare, he loves going to Mona for a cuddle every morning but is always super excited to see Mum and Dad in the afternoon. He is now the oldest in his room, we’re just waiting on a vacancy in Nursery 2 and he will be moved up.

Freddie started crawling in March, he showed us that he could crawl much earlier then that but just refused to do it then one day he just decided to take off and hasn’t looked back!! Being mobile of course means that he gets into everything, his favourite is to go into the pantry and reorganise it for me!! He also loves riding along on his Batman ride-on bike, thinks he’s pretty clever!! He is very nearly walking, he will walk quite happily if he can hold your hand but doesn’t like walking on his own, although tonight he did let go  and walked about 5 steps on his own to Daddy.

Freddie continues to love his food, mostly, he LOVES tomato sauce and Vegemite, in fact he gets most upset if he doesn’t get his nightly drink of sauce from the sauce bottle!!! He is mostly still eating mashed food but does like a biscuit, toast or a sandwich, especially if there is Vegemite involved and he LOVES chippies!!!

We are very blessed that he has been a good sleeper from about 8 weeks, he continues to love his sleep but occasionally wakes us up to keep us on our toes, really though he hates waking up night as much as we do!! Teething has been the main thing that wakes him, he now has 7 teeth, 4 on top and 3 on the bottom. We are currently trying to transition him from 2 sleeps each day to 1, his daycare careers suggested it might be time cause they now have difficulties getting him to have his morning sleep and he takes great pleasure in keeping the other babies awake too!! They’ve also informed us that as he does go to sleep he fights it by poking himself in the eye to try and stay awake!!

We recently took Freddie on his first outing the park, he loved the slide and but wasn’t really sure about the swing until Daddy pushed him a bit faster and then he loved it :o ) At home he continues to love playing with his ball, he loves playing catch and spends hours chasing his ball all over the place, he’s also a big fan of his Elmo, loves having a cuddle with Elmo!!

Freddie is continuing with his swimming lessons, we go every Sunday morning, he is doing well, he loves ‘jumping’ in the water and floating on his back and is quite good at safety stepping into the pool. We are still working on his safety stepping out of the pool and kicking with a kick board but he is doing very well, he can now hold the kick board on his own and can also crawl across the floating mat. We’re also still working on blowing bubbles, he just thinks that concept is funny!

Daniel and I are both well, Daniel continues to write of Ausdroid and is doing very well. Daniel and Alan are both competing in the Sun Herald City 2 Surf event in Sydney next month, Freddie and I will be at the finish line cheering them home!!

Anyway its time for bed, will try and update more regularly and will add some photos soon, sorry too slack to do it tonight!!

Freddie Update

By Danndel, September 1, 2011 6:13 am

Its been too long since our last update and Freddie is growing heaps!!

Freddie is officially 5 months old today, don’t ask me where the last 5 months have gone!! He is now eating solid foods twice a day, he is a big fan of apple and pumpkin and is not so keen on broccoli. He can also roll from his tummy to his back but not the other way yet, he tries hard he gets about 3/4 of the way there and then flops back on his back again :o )

Freddie has discovered Sesame Street and Bananas in Pyjamas in the last couple days and is a bit of a fan, he doesn’t mind the Wiggles either.

I’ve included a few photos, some were taken a couple of months ago on our trip up to Ballina in July and one of our visit with my Pop. We’re off to Ballina again in a couple of weeks for another visit with Poppy Alan, can’t wait!!!

Daniel and I are both well. For those not already in the know Daniel is now a writer for Ausdroid you can check out his articles and reviews on the Ausdroid blog http://ausdroid.net he is loving it and has already posted 7 articles in his first week!! I am a very proud wife :o )

Anyway better go I need to feed Freddie his pumpkin!! Will post again soon xx

12 Weeks Old

By Danndel, June 27, 2011 3:31 am

I can’t quite believe that our boy is now 12 weeks old, the time has flown by!!

We had our final clinic appointment with the Community Nurse last week  and Freddie weighed in at 5.950 kg and 62cm long, he’s right on average for weight but very tall. He also has big feet, we’re having trouble with his ‘onesies’ as his feet out grow them so fast!!!

Freddie also decided to mark his 12 week birthday by starting to teeth!! No signs of any teeth yet but plenty of symptoms, running nose, pink cheeks and lots and lots of drool!!

End of this week we’re off to Ballina for Amy and Anthony’s engagement party, can’t wait to see everyone!! We’re also going to visit my Pop in Glen Innes, I spoke with him this morning and he’s very excited about meeting Freddie :o )

Will update again after our holiday with lots of new photos!!

Take care all xxx

Freddie Update

By Danndel, June 11, 2011 12:44 am

Hi Folks, its been a long time between posts, sorry about that we’ve been a tad busy :o )

Freddie is doing very well, he is 10 weeks old now (where has that time gone!) and growing heaps, last clinic visit which was a month ago he weighed just over 5kg and was 59cm long. We have another clinic visit in 2 weeks for another weigh and measure, he is very tall and has already outgrown his “000″ clothes!!

Our boy is a very good baby, he enjoys his bath and LOVES having his nappy off which is a complete change from when he was first born when he hated both. Having a shower is another story though, hates it, but he has now graduated out of his baby bath to the big bath and loves it. Oh and he has been sleeping through the night, mostly, for about the last 2 weeks!!!!

We’ve been quite busy over the last 10 weeks, we of course had Al and Kirsty with us when Freddie was born, Kim and Beth come for a visit when Freddie was a week old and helped us celebrate his 1 week old birthday :o ) Amy and Anthony came to visit over Easter which was lovely. Then a couple of weeks ago Rhonda and John came up to visit from Bendigo as well so heaps of visitors. We also had to go into the ANU for a special afternoon tea that my work held for us so that they could all meet Freddie!! This week our very good friend Susan (little Susie Barker) and her husband Stuart are visiting from the UK, I’m so excited can’t wait to see them!!

We welcomed my sisters baby boy Alexander on 11th May, Freddie and Alex first met at the hospital but both were to busy sleeping to really care :o ) Freddie is rather huge compared to his tiny little cousin!!

We are off on our first holiday in a couple of weeks to visit Poppy Alan and attend Amy and Anthony’s engagement party, can’t wait. We are also going to call in and see Great Poppy Mick on the way so he can meet he great grand child.

So best go before the boy wake up, take care all xx

1 April 2011

By Danndel, April 10, 2011 10:29 am

Well it actually all started on Thursday 31st March 2011, I had my weekly OB appointment at the hospital at 9.45am. I wasn’t feeling particularly well that morning  and my BP was very high so I was referred for some tests and a review with up with the Dr’s on the delivery ward to make a decision on whether to increase my BP medication or book me in to be induced.

The final decision was made late that afternoon to induce. I was admitted to hospital with a plan to be induced early Friday morning but went into labour spontaneously Thursday night!! Was in active labour for 9.5 hours including 3.5 hours of pushing, he got stuck and had to be pulled out with forceps in the end (or salad servers as the Dr called them!). I did have an epidural cause my blood pressure was playing up but I managed to achieve my goal of being 5cm dilated before asking for it!! It actually didn’t work real well to start with and I could still feel strong contractions in my back until they adjusted it, I didn’t actually swear but did get really cranky with Mum and Daniel when ever they stopped rubbing my back :o )

In the end he was born at 2.34pm in the afternoon and it took a little bit of work from the Neonatal team to get him going but he was ok.

First night in  hospital went relatively well, Freddie woke regularly but feed well and went straight back to sleep. I also managed to get my own room for the first night so had a fairly good nights sleep.

Baby Update

By Danndel, March 25, 2011 12:14 am

Hi All this will hopefully be my last baby update, I am hoping the next time we update the blog it will be to introduce you all to BT!!

I am officially due tomorrow, everything is going really well, my BP continues to remain stable so for now we’re just going to let nature do its thing. Originally the OB’s had suggested that they might induce me next week but have decided that I’m doing well so its better to just wait it out.

Daniel has decided that he is going to send me on a 10 mile jog and feed me a big bowl of chili cooked in balsamic vinegar and castor oil to try and get things moving :o )

So for now we sit and wait, as soon as theirs news we will share with the world :o )

Baby Update

By Danndel, March 5, 2011 7:41 am

Hi All

Its been a busy week with lots of appointments to check up on BT, all is looking good and now we just have to wait!!

Spoke with the OB at Canberra Hospital on Wednesday and he said that if BT does not make an appearance by week 40 I will probably be induced in week 41. They usually wait until week 42 but prefer to induce earlier rather then later if the mother has essential or pregnancy induced hypertension.

We also met with the anesthesiologist so we are prepared for an epidural if necessary, he suggested that I have a manicure prior to labour and have my finger nails sharpened ready to keep Daniel in line :o )

Our good friends Danny and Jess welcomed a beautiful baby boy on Thursday night, so we went for a visit yesterday, he is so cute and we both walked away feeling extra excited about BT’s arrival!!

Daniel continues to spoil me and is looking after me very, very well despite my very loud snoring keeping him awake most nights. I am a very lucky woman to have such a wonderful husband :o )

So anyway that’s the latest, will update again when we have more news xxx

Baby Shower & Update

By Danndel, February 21, 2011 8:10 am

Hi All

Daniel has once again reminded me its time for another update!

Mum & Nicole held a baby shower for me on Saturday, it was heaps of fun. I’ve included a couple of photos, they are a bit dark but are the only ones I have at the moment.

We played games, ate lots yummy food and I got totally spoilt with heaps of presents for BT. Mum and Nicole decorated with lots of balloons and baby stuff and even gave out baby themed lolly bags to all, so I need to say a huge thank you to them both and to all that came along I had a great time!!

Everything is going well with BT, we’ve now been referred to the Fetal Medicine Unit at TCH (Canberra Hospital) as my Dr finally decided it was best for me to deliver there and not Queanbeyan Hospital. All going well though we will transfer back to Queanbeyan once BT is born.

My blood pressure continues to behave itself which is good news and provided it continues to behave I will be able to just let nature take control of things. That said once I go into labour I will probably need a epidural to help keep my BP under control. If not an epidural then probably other drugs but the specialist seemed to indicate that the epidural was the best option.

So just under 5 weeks to go until due date, I’ve now finished work and am loving life at home, really not doing much but lying around with my feet up. Going out for lunch with my Dad tomorrow, really looking forward to that :o )

Next week we have appointments with the Fetal Medicine Unit again and an anesthesiologist to prepare for my epidural and we’re having another ultra sound, YAY!!! The ultra sound is to check to see how things are going and to double check BT’s size which apparently is big.

BT’s room is now set up, we have the cot, change table and bassinet all set up and ready to go. We’re having the car seat fitted this Friday and apart from that I think all we can really do now is sit back and wait and wash all of BT’s things (so much washing to do!!).

We will update again next week when we have new pictures of BT!!!!

Baby Update

By Danndel, January 27, 2011 9:19 am

We had our 32 week appointment with our obstetrician today so I thought it was a good time for a baby update!

Everything is going well, BT’s head is pointed in the right direction, BP was up slightly but still well within normal range, iron levels were a little low but nothing to worry about and I definately don’t have gestational diabetes!!

The decision was made today that I will need to go to Canberra Hospital to deliver BT so we’ve been referred to the foetal medicine unit there and are currently waiting on them to call me to set up an appointment. Good news is that I can transfer back to Queanbeyan hospital once BT is safely delivered. I prefer Queanbeyan Hospital cause its smaller, I can have my own room and Daniel  can stay with me 24/7.

I am feeling very well, I really have had a very easy pregnancy and its in no small  part due my amazing husband and how well he looks after me :o )

Love to all, will  update again after our next appointment in 2 weeks xx
