Wallabies

By phroghollow, October 16, 2010 9:36 am

Adele and I went to a Wallabies game on the 11th of September. We stayed at the Pullman Hotel again as we did when we went to Top Gear Live last year. Had seats behind the goal line which were quite good when they played at that end of the field :

We saw the All Blacks do the Haka which Al & Mary learnt all about on their New Zealand trip, they even sent us a Kiwi Toy that chants the Haka. We also saw John Williamson doing Waltzing Matilda at the start. Unfortunately the game was a dead rubber as the All Blacks had already won the Bledisloe cup and though it was a close game, the Wallabies ended up losing this game as well with the final score Australia 22 vs New Zealand 23.

By phroghollow, October 16, 2010 5:03 am

We stayed at the Holiday Inn across the road which I can highly recommend if you`re going to a concert the 30 second walk to and from the Venue is just fantastic. Anyway despite a rude lady next to me asking if I was even alive when he was singing (I was but I was less than a year old when he stepped out of the spotlight), we  had a fantastic night, and both Adele and I eagerly await the Musical he is writing being released.

BT – Heartbeat

By phroghollow, October 15, 2010 9:08 am

The Pic is from the 5 I uploaded to Facebook :

These are from the Down’s Syndrome test which measures for 3 types of Syndrome : Down`s Edward’s and Patau’s Syndromes. We`re at low risk for all 3 so they are pretty confident on little BT. Oh By The Way BT = Baby Tyson.

Next ultrasound is on the 4th of November for the 20 Week Scan.

Anyway, we`re off on Holiday on Sunday. So more blogs to come. Bye.

Sad Endings and New Beginnings

By phroghollow, September 10, 2010 9:14 am

2 Months ago yesterday I spoke to my mum and she told me she had cancer. The next Friday, Adele and I drove from Canberra to Charters Towers to help move, her and my dad back to Ballina so they could be close to Brisbane to enable her to get treatment. Adele and I saw Mary for one night before we drove her and Al to the airport in Townsville, so they could fly down to Brisbane. That one night was so worth the 2,500kms we drove on Friday and Saturday. We then continued on down to Brisbane to be with her as they tried to diagnose the primary cancer so they could begin treatment.

We drove through Mundubbera and dropped my sister off with her family and stayed for 2 nights and saw my niece in her sports carnival. We then continued on, me driving Mary`s car, the whole way I was distracted by my driving buddy :

19 days after being diagnosed, my mum died at the Mater Private Hospital in Brisbane, surrounded by her 5 kids and husband, it`s the hardest thing i`ve ever faced and even today I have bad moments and I think I will have bad moments for a long time to come.

Her funeral was a pink affair, how could it not be with an internet handle of PinkFoxyLady? Pink ties for the blokes and pink dresses/outfits for the ladies, we arranged a pink coffin for her send off, which was as she`d always wanted, full of laughter, tears and flowers.

Ace Of Base – Break My Stride

Mary was what I out of all her kids called her, people often wonder why, you have to differentiate yourself in a large family, ever tried yelling mum in a supermarket, or in a house with 5 kids? Mary was a big part of my life, she taught me all about fun, adventures and how to handle life`s little problems, I also got my fascination with technology and gadgets from her, I remember her resetting the BIOS on our first PC that we ever owned. she also taught me to fish which is what I did with her on our last trip to Ballina for Al`s 60th, we usually found time to fish when I was up there, we also tried prawning once which led to a funny story, i`m sure most people have heard.

The week after Mary`s funeral we found out something which changed my outlook, Adele is pregnant. I was lucky to be around the rest of my family when we found out, Mary had been praying for us to have a baby for years as it turned out after we read her prayer journal. Well it`s happened, just as she wanted, unfortunately my child won`t be lucky enough to meet this wonderful woman. People say she knows but I’m always going to be disappointed we never got to tell her. But all I can do is my best.

Adele is now 12 weeks pregnant. We had our first ultrasound a week and a half ago, we have another one on Thursday, we`ve been waiting a while to update our blog so we could share this news. And now my siblings and father can tell the entire world, I know they`ve been wanting to .
I`ll be updating more regularly from now on. Bye.

Does This Look Broken To You?

By phroghollow, July 15, 2010 6:44 am

Now the Dr at the Imaging place included this analysis :

There is a negative ulnar variance of approximately 4mm and a prominent ulnar styloid process. There were no features of any specific wrist joint arthropathy. I`m guessing that means it isn`t broken. Hmm time to pay some pysiotherapist obscene amounts of money to massage it.(That`ll rile my cousin up good and proper)

Bye.

Löwenbräu Keller

By phroghollow, June 27, 2010 6:49 am

We went up to Sydney last night to celebrate Wilko and Dan`s Birthdays (Wilko earlier in June and Dan`s next month). We went to the Löwenbräu Keller both Wilko and I worked on Friday Night and after finishing, headed off to Sydney, Wilko with Dan and Jess and Me with Adele. I managed 2 and a bit hours sleep at home and a bit more in the car. Wilko had barely an hour.

We booked into The Russell hotel in The Rocks :

We got there around 3pm. We then met Jess, Dan and Wilko at around 3:30 at the Löwenbräu which is just up the road a bit from the Hotel, they were already a litre of beer in from Lunch.

Adele had a Lemon Beer in a 500ml glass, while Jess and Dan had the 1Litre variety :

Wilko and I had the 1 Litre Stein of Löwenbräu Original, whilst we had this we tucked into a Hamburger each, delicious.

Wilko decided to try the Black Forrest cake. Looked nice but Deadly, i`m sure Frank was happy. Jess and Dan got some Pretzels with Butter.

We moved inside and got started on Shots, Jess, Dan, Wilko and I had the Friesengeist (56% Alcohol) while Adele hit the Raspberry Schnapps. Wilko and I then moved onto 500ml Löwenbräu Originals because they were on special for Happy Hour between 4pm and 6pm, Adele hit another Lemon Beer(i`m Damn impressed with her by this stage) and Dan and Jess had one as well, we then all ordered Pretzels(salty pretzels and butter with beer = AWESOME). At this stage Wilko`s one hour of sleep caught up and he left to have a rest. I was fairly drunk by this stage, Adele and Dan both ordered Chicken Schnitzel (I ate Adele`s Salad) which were damn nice. After this Dan and I had Peppermint Schnapps, and Jess and Adele had Buterscotch chnapps, They shot theirs down, Dan and I sipped, Very Nice. By this stage, nearing 7pm, I was smashed :

so we stumbled back to the hotel, and by 8pm was asleep.

Now going to the Toilet was interesting, at least for the blokes, World Cup Fever is everywhere :

We woke this morning around 6:30 after a busy night in The Rocks(busy for the drunken yahoos on George St) and hit Breakfast downstairs, then walked to the Opera House :

then checked out The Rocks Markets. We got a present each for Adele`s parents for taking care of the Dog for the last week for us, and went back to the Löwenbräu and bought a 1 Litre Stein($16.50, can`t buy them after 5pm) :

and found this collar for Ellie :

You can order them from here

We then headed to Ikea at Homebush. Where we bought 2 lots of shelves for beside the bed :

And 2 sets of drawers :

Plus various other Sundries. We`ve picked the dog up and Adele is now making dinner and that was our weekend. I`m sure Adele will update this post if I`ve forgotten anything. Bye.

Oh, random Zebra art installation in Lake George, in front of the last rest stop, closest to Canberra, I driver revived and got a free cup of tea, Adele had my biscuits :

Bye.

Dubbo Adventures

By phroghollow, June 8, 2010 9:10 am

As Daniel mentioned via Twitter we spent last weekend in Dubbo with Mum and Dad. We had a great time, the trip has been about 2 years in the making, it started after a trip to the National Zoo and Aquarium inspired us to visit the Western Plains Zoo.

We left Canberra bright and early Friday morning in our new car, we were itching to take it out on the open road to see how it would travel, it did great!! We arrived in Dubbo about 2.30ish, we stayed here https://www.akunamotorinn.com.au/ it was really good and the people who run it are lovely.

We decided to check out the Old Dubbo Gaol on Friday afternoon, it has been closed since 1966. In its day it could hold a maximumof 36 prisoners, male and female. The solitary confinement cells were so creepy, they were pitch black and allow in no light or sound!!

After the gaol we wandered around the shops for awhile before heading back to the hotel for a rest. We headed over to the Bowling Club across the road for dinner and quite a few drinks. I mastered the Skill Tester and got myself a Ralf (from the Simpsons) and then conquered the chocolate skill tester and provided dessert for all )

Cute Meer Cat

We had a great day, the giraffe in the top photos was so cheeky, he was posing for all the cameras, there were lots of baby giraffes too so cute!!!

The Meer Cats were super cute too, this little one was looking out for his keeper cause he knew that food was on its way!! We watch them feed and it was so cute the little Meer cats were running all over the people feeding them trying to get to their food!

The last photo is of an Eland and its new baby, it was born that day. Earlier in the morning we noticed that the Eland was in labour she kept lying down to have contractions and her waters broke while we were watching, we (well Me, Daniel and Dad) got a bit bored after awhile so wandered off for awhile, a zoo keeper did eventually confirm that it could take hours for the birth to actually happen. We decided to go back at the end of the day and when we did we found Mum and her brand new baby, couldn’t have been much more then about an hour old he/she was still wet and wobbly.

We eventually left the zoo about 4pm, we had walked about 15kms and drove around once at the end to re-visit some parts, mainly the Elands and the tigers again. Dad and Daniel had a great time with the cameras and took heaps of photos.

We went back to the Bowling Club for dinner and more drinks, once again I conquered the chocolate skill tester for dessert and Daniel mastered the other Skill Tester he got me a Care Bear and him a Gizmo.

Sunday morning it was just a little chilly, we checked out of the hotel and headed off for Parks to check out The Dish.

It did not let us down, we spent about an hour there reading all the info and we watched a 3D movie about The Dish, Mars and how big stuff in space is.

Then it was home again, we had a great weekend, thanks to Paul who once again looked after the animals. It was his first time looking after Ellie, I think she kept him on his toes  )

Then Monday was back to reality and back to work!! This weekend we have to finish getting ready for our painting, Sunday we move into Mum and Dad’s for week and the painting starts on Monday can’t wait!!

Holden Captiva

By phroghollow, May 13, 2010 9:31 am

The new car we have leased is the Holden Captiva CX7, some generic specs first :

3.2L V6

5 Speed Auto with Active Select

Alloy Wheels

CD Player with MP3

We then added :

Nudge Bar

Tow Bar

Window Tinting(This will be done on Friday 21st of May)

Now some photo`s :

It has a split rear door :

Or you can open the whole thing :

If you`re using all 7 seats, obviously you don`t have much boot space :

But if you really need space then you can go this way :

V6 3.2L is not quite as big as the VT`s 3.8L V6 but it is still pretty damn good :

Lots of controls on the steering wheel, Stereo controls on the right, Cruise control on the left :

Sunroof was a freebie, and still is if you want to buy one at the moment :

Nice setup in the front :

And in the back, including cup holders :

So that`s the new car. We bought it from Gerald Slaven in Belconnen. We dealt with Paul Stamatis, we were exceptionally pleased with the service we received and will recommend anyone go see him.

Commonwealth Motors on the other hand, give them a miss, Hint to Commonwealth motors, if i`m standing on your lot looking at a car for half an hour I WANT SERVICE.

I think that`s about it, I`m sure the wife will remind me of something i`ve forgotten. Bye.

Papercraft Skull

By phroghollow, May 8, 2010 9:41 am

Heh, we`ve had a flashing red light up in our office for over a week now.

I decided to do something to make it look a little less harsh, so I found a bit of papercraft on skulladay.com :

Papercraft Skull

You can print it out yourself here : papercraftskull

Here is some finished pieces :

And when the Red light now goes off the skull makes it look like this :

Glowing Skull

Aight, thats enough for tonight, Bye.
